Advantage Financial FCU Branding Case Study

THE CLIENT
When DVA Federal Credit Union, based in Washington, D.C., changed their name to Advantage Financial Federal Credit Union, they needed a new look to go with their new name. They wanted to better differentiate themselves from the DVA (Department of Veterans Affairs) and present a more inclusive identity to all their fields of membership, including non-DVA-affiliated members.

THE CHALLENGE
At the core of the branding update was the need to respect the credit union’s roots and avoid alienating loyal, long-term members while presenting a modern and fresh look to attract new accountholders.

THE SOLUTION
image.works developed a logo that incorporated original graphic elements in a new way and emphasized the “dva” in “Advantage” to subtly honor the credit union’s origins. A corresponding brand guide introduced new fonts and colors to complement the updated logo.

THE RESULTS
Our work for Advantage Financial Federal Credit Union won a Diamond Award for Logos during the annual industry competition that rewards creative excellence and outstanding results in credit union marketing.
