Employee Spotlight: Julie Destrampe

At image.works, we pride ourselves on having employees who are “jacks-of-all-trades.” Not only is she one of two art directors at image.works, Julie is a painter, world traveler, mother and a truly kind individual. Our graphic design team leans on her for day-to-day guidance, and the entire company can count on her for leadership. Especially during the stressful and uncertain times of 2020 through the present, Julie has supported her co-workers in every way she can, proving that, with the right leadership, anything is possible.

Describe what you do on a day-to-day basis.
There is a lot of variety each day, which I love. I get to work on designing projects for clients and internal marketing for image.works. I answer questions that come in and help support our design team in any way that I can. I also get to be involved in researching, creating and implementing new products and programs for our department.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love seeing everything come together from start to finish and knowing our clients are happy with the results. We have such an amazing team here, and it’s rewarding to see the teamwork that happens internally and with our clients to make each piece successful.

How has image.works influenced you or helped you grow?
My time at image.works has helped me adapt to change and problem-solve. The company has grown a lot over the last 12 years, and we’re always looking for new ways to help our clients. This has given me opportunities to implement new programs and processes, grow my skills and figure out the best way to make something successful for our company and our clients.

Where is your favorite place to travel in Wisconsin?
The Chain O’ Lakes in Waupaca. Our good friends have a cabin on one of the lakes, and it’s so beautiful and peaceful. We always have so much fun when we’re there. We also love to camp and explore the Wisconsin State Parks. Some of our favorites are Governor Dodge and Devil’s Lake State Park.

Do you have a secret talent or something about you that would surprise people?
I love to travel and then paint landscapes from the places I’ve visited. I just finished a watercolor painting of my husband and our daughter at the beach from our last family vacation.

What do you think is the most admirable characteristic a person can have?
Vulnerability and authenticity. I think it’s such a wonderful way for people to connect with themselves, each other and the world around them.

Do you have any words to live by?
Do small things with great love.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled and why?
New Zealand. The landscape is stunning, the people are so kind and inviting and there is such a sense of adventure. My husband and I spent 2 ½ weeks there, and I would love to go back again someday. We hiked through mountains, forests, beaches and volcanoes; saw the Glowworm Caves, glaciers and fjords; went canyoning; and even did a 900-foot free fall swing!
