Meet Allie Habeck, one of our copywriters at image.works! She grew up in Wausau, Wisconsin, and earned a degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and a minor in Journalism, Advertising and Media Studies, which she has skillfully applied at image.works. When not at work, Allie can be found reading, writing, thrifting or spending time with her Chihuahua, Tate.
Describe what you do on a day-to-day basis.
As a copywriter, my day-to-day involves writing copy for my clients’ campaigns. I handle everything from direct mail, marketing automation, onboarding, IP targeting, search and display ads and my most recent addition – social media. In addition to client work, I write internal pieces, including image.works’ Real Client, Real Results materials and our new design emails. When I’m not writing, you can find me involved in our New Designs committee and checking our daily printer proofs alongside one of my copywriting colleagues.
For the next few months, I'm also working on image.works’ 2024 Idea Book, which is a catalog highlighting our unique marketing products and solutions that goes out to all current and prospective clients. Each year, the copywriters and designers are split into creative teams to produce a concept for that year’s Idea Book – only one can win, and this year I was honored to have my concept chosen.
What brought you to image.works?
I graduated during the COVID pandemic and was looking for a job when a lot of companies weren’t hiring. It was a few weeks before the semester ended when I interviewed at image.works, and the rest is history!
How has image.works influenced you or helped you grow?
As my first job out of college, image.works has taught me so much. Not only have I received endless opportunities to try new things and learn what I like and don’t like, but I've become more confident in how I handle challenges and conflicts.
Favorite place to travel to in Wisconsin?
Minocqua. When I think of summertime, I think of being on the lake in Minocqua. Between the adorable downtown, the beautiful lakes, the fantastic restaurants and more outdoor activities than you can imagine (did someone say zip lining or UTVing?), you’re bound to have a blast. And Dan’s Minocqua Fudge is a must-stop not only for fudge but ice cream and saltwater taffy too!
What’s the most “Wisconsin” thing about you?
Adding “or no?” to the end of questions even though it adds no value to the sentence. “Are we going out for a Friday fish fry or no?”
What’s something about you that would surprise people?
I LOVE Halloween. The second August is over, I am in full Halloween mode. I can’t wait to own a home someday so I can go crazy with the decorations and turn it into the haunted house of my dreams every October. Often while I’m working, you can find me listening to my Halloween instrumental playlist – no matter what time of year it is.
If you could learn a new skill, what would it be?
Sewing. I was never taught how to sew – not even in school. I moved a lot growing up, and I always managed to miss that unit in whatever state I was living in. I’ve always loved clothes and fashion, so it’s a real shame I never learned to sew. With my love of thrifting and vintage style, it would be so fun to upcycle clothes and turn them into something unique.
Words to live by?
“Don’t postpone joy.”
To me, this means appreciating the little things in life and learning how to find happiness in the here and now. It’s so easy to get caught up in what you want and what you don’t have. I often find myself thinking “I’ll be happy when ____ happens.” Then when I reach that milestone, I’m immediately on to the next goal without savoring the moments in between. There’s a reason it’s said “there’s beauty in the mundane,” because so much joy can be found in even the most rudimentary of moments if you let yourself appreciate it.
For me, this mindset is something I am constantly working toward because life truly is better when you let a little joy in.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
Maine. The scenery is just so beautiful. It reminds me of my favorite parts of being up north in Wisconsin, but with the bonuses of the ocean and delicious seafood. I visited Maine while on a family vacation out East, but we only spent one day there. Afterward we all agreed that we wished we had spent the majority of the vacation there!
